Two years, twenty-five job applications…..

In two years I have put in twenty-five job applications. Most have ended up with nil, no call, no interview. For one, I had a video, fake interview. One wanted a re-do, that is, said I was “hired” and wanted me for a more advanced position, then, never sent work. Another said I was “in queue” but that was total bullshit. Most simply never call. I got called right away from an obvious scam. Another recently called but only had full-time and wasn’t going to let me take time off for a speaking engagement I am already committed to. With that little flexibility, I told them “I don’t think so.” Besides, their hours are so late at night I doubt I could even catch the last bus home.

I just put in six applications. Nothing. No call. This company claims they don’t discriminate, but I think they do. They wanted “at least a high school diploma” for these jobs and I have a master’s. What gives? Age? Six applications…not one interview!

So I think the total, for the past two years, is 25. Twenty-five submitted. Not one in-person interview. Two video interviews. Other than that, nothing.

I had my hopes up a bit ago about this apprenticeship but it’s not at all what I thought it was going to be. It’s not a job. So I’m bummed. Still, it’s a strip on a uniform, but it’s not a job. Shucks.

I don’t recommend Textbroker. The pay is so stupidly low. Especially if you pay for data, since a lot of the time you have to watch youtubes. Unless you want to make two dollars an hour. It’s scammy, too. I suppose it’ll be more than that now that I have “unlimited internet.” Maybe I will go back to them. Working for them looks bad on a resume, too. But…it’s income. I tried Ebay, but I couldn’t sell a thing. Maybe I should give Textbroker a try again, now that I don’t pay an arm and a leg every time an ad comes on.

What gets to me is people who take their jobs for granted. For godsakes, don’t. We live in a world where employment is so hard to come by. I’m going back to work for Texbroker. Fuck it.

Except last time the pay was so ridiculously low, I quit. I hope this time it doesn’t happen like that again.

Wish me luck.

Broadcast on “sex offender” law…

Of course someone on Facebook got pissed off at me over this. It is good to stir up controversy now and then.

The radio station is gaining momentum. Jump on ship!

Why I enjoy ghee part 2

My friend pointed out to me that adult humans, and all adult animals don’t really need mother’s milk anymore. While he is correct about this, I use ghee regularly for the following reason….

I use ghee because it satisfies the inner child in me. Do all people have an inner child? I don’t know! We humans tend to revert to our childhood ways when we are under stress. For instance, we may forget our manners if we are pissed off. We may revert to sibling rivalry such as envy or jealousy even though we adults know better. We may revert to comparing ourselves with others even though we’ve grown past that stage.

If we are under extreme stress, such as at gunpoint, or being pinned down, we may resort to calling out to an unseen parent, or we may plead or beg. Normally, we don’t do these things as adults. We may even whine.

I eat ghee to satisfy that inner bit of myself that is still a child, that part of me that lurks around the corner. I know under stress I might resort to binge eating if I am exposed to dairy proteins. Ghee does not contain dairy protein, but amazingly, it satisfies my inner child’s need for dairy, without triggering the dairy-binge response in me.

Many people are addicted to sugar or are triggered by sugary foods. Some people might try cutting out sugar altogether, but feel deprived if they do. If this happens, try satisfying yourself with fruits that are not high on the glycemic scale. This may satisfy that inner child in you.  Or try vegetables such as bell peppers or carrots. Many find the name “baby carrots” appealing even though it’s little but an advertising gimmick. I would suggest experimenting till you find what works. Stay away from packaged foods. Don’t use artificial sweetener as this is known to cause cravings, aggression, anxiety, digestive problems, and even, in rare cases, psychosis. Some artificial sweeteners can mix badly with drugs also. (And NEVER give artificial sweetener to your pets as it is poisonous to them.)

As an aside, ghee contains Vitamin K, which is a fat-soluble vitamin.

Radio: Prerecorded, ten-minute episode….

This episode is pre-recorded and will be accessible in after noon EST, in about 20 minutes, and thereafter. It contains a personal story (name of social worker included) and musing. I prerecorded it last night. Enjoy.

Stop Binge Eating

I have discovered a few tips for people who suffer binge eating. I’m going to be writing a more complete list in the future…

  1. My own observation is that therapy is far less effective for this malady than therapists would like us to believe. I know in my heart that success rates are overblown.
  2. The “chemical route” is most likely far more effective than “therapy.” This should be attempted in the following order…
  3. Change your eating pattern. What you are doing now isn’t working. If you do not change what you’re doing now, you’ll continue to binge eat.
  4. Try alternative medicine, such as Chinese herbs, acupuncture, Aryurveda, massage, yoga, tapping, anything you can find that might strike your fancy.
  5. Try coffee or other stimulant. These are the cheap version of Vyvanse, wthout the overblown price. And you don’t even need a shrink for it.
  6. See? Told ya so.

And another tip….use ghee, not butter.

Tonight’s show: 6:30pm EDT, on ANGER 323 443 7210, 45-minute show

Is anger a bad thing? Can anger be channeled creatively? Is anger a mental illness (chuckle chuckle). Should anger be sent to a therapist’s office or silenced? Should anger be meditated away or called “destructive” instead of honored as expression of emotion?

While anger, either ours or that of other people, may make us uncomfortable, I challenge the audience….What is so terrible about anger and what justifies turning it into a disease? Why should anger be managed by the mental system? Do they have “Joy Management Group”? No, they do not. (Do they have “comfortably numb management group”? No. But they probably need that.)

Call 323-443-7210 at 6:30.  This is going to be a brief show.
